10.00am - 1:00pm WORKSHOP A: Setting up a Waste Management Committee: How to Maximise the Success of Each Initiative

Often overlooked as a ‘less important’ component of the day-to-day operation of a hospital, effective waste management is paramount to every hospital’s bottom-line. While not being able to ‘make money’ from your waste management strategies, proficient and proactive waste management can greatly impact the hospital’s bottom-line. A whole of hospital approach is needed to maximise each attribute of the waste management strategies and solid stakeholder management is essential. The Royal Perth Hospital has successfully engaged all levels of staff to create HEAT (Health Environmental Awareness Team). Find out how to roll out a similar program or strengthen your current initiative in this intense and insightful workshop:

In this workshop you will:

  • Identify the start-up mechanisms required for a successful waste management committee
  • Learn how to triumph when engaging seniorstaff
  • Further your knowledge of the different waste management and recycling strategies available to you
  • Ensure you maximise your whole of hospital participation with each initiative
  • Evaluate your current waste management processes and discuss ways to increase their effect
  • Explore other potential waste management procedures that will impact the volume, cost and environmental impact of your hospital
